1920s: The ladies of the Auxiliary (Ezras Noshem society) of Mount Sinai Hospital.
| Celebrating Past, Present and Future
More than 80 years ago four courageous women had a vision: to open a facility where newcomers from all cultures could work and be cared for by medical professionals who understood their language and needs.
This visionary spirit translated into philanthropy as they raised $12,000, much of it in nickels and dimes, and funded the opening of a 30-bed maternity and convalescent hospital in 1923.
Since then, thanks to the support of donors, Mount Sinai Hospital has grown into a state-of-the-art, 472-bed facility devoted to clinical care, groundbreaking research and teaching the next generation of doctors and scientists.
In celebration of our 85th anniversary, the Founders’ Society was created to honour this visionary spirit. Long-time donor and renowned interior designer Brian Gluckstein is Chair of the Society. Members of the Founders' Society make annual leadership gifts, joining an unbroken line of generous supporters who have helped advance excellence at Mount Sinai.
As a member of the Founders’ Society, you will become one of Mount Sinai’s key partners, benefitting patients today and tomorrow. Our future can only be realized with the help of visionaries and generous supporters, like you. Join today.
