We’re putting our best heads together to stop cancer Research excellence is essential to Mount Sinai Hospital’s commitment to providing the best patient care. And Leadership Sinai is committed to supporting Mount Sinai cancer research to create the best medicine for patients and their families. That’s why some of our best researchers are dedicated to studying cancer. Drawing on the bright minds at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital, we’ve rallied together an All-Star team dedicated to helping stop cancer before it starts. Our $3-million pledge Leadership Sinai’s ambitious $3-million pledge will allow our All-Star Team to investigate the limits of this disease and help prevent it. Why cancer research? We decided to focus our All-Star Team on cancer research because in Canada: 39% of women and 44% of men will develop cancer during their lifetime Approximately 1 in 4 will die from cancer 30% of new cancer cases and 18% of cancer deaths will occur in young and middle-aged adults in their most productive stage of life
Cancer research at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute Cancer is by far the most researched disease at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute. Half of our 32 principal investigators focus on different aspects of cancer and are internationally recognized leaders in their respective fields. Last year the Lunenfeld scientists published 12 papers in the top 10 scientific journals and eight of these papers reported advances in cancer research. From these experts comes our outstanding All-Star Team to help make headway in prevention and cure of the disease. Meet our All-Star Team
