At Mount Sinai, The Best Medicine is more than the name of a successful fundraising campaign; it is a passionate reality that’s lived every single day by our team of more than 4,000 people.
Our community encompasses world-renowned physicians, leading scientists, dedicated healthcare professionals, enthusiastic volunteers, keen students and – behind them all – visionary donors who understand the power of their philanthropy. We are currently engaging donor involvement in three major campaigns: Right from the Start: Mount Sinai Hospital’s Campaign for Women’s and Infants’ Health will revitalize and expand our environment, resources and services for our single biggest patient group.
Mothers and babies make up 60% of our in-patients. Our patient volumes have increased 43% since 1998 without any expansion to our physical space, and yet we have developed the country’s most comprehensive range of services.
Our Lawrence and Frances Bloomberg Centre for Women’ and Infants’ Health is ranked as one of the world’s top six women’s healthcare centres. We are known internationally for programs that provide specialized care to women with high-risk pregnancies and that care for unborn babies with life-threatening conditions.
Research Creates The Best Medicine supports the renowned Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital, one of the world’s top 10 biomedical research facilities. Here, some of the brightest minds and biggest hearts in science are leading the way in health science research and, in turn, advancing the future health of Canadians. Lunenfeld scientists are making discoveries that will prevent, detect and improve treatment of the most devastating diseases of our time, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, spinal cord injury, inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis, kidney disease, complications in pregnancy, depression and bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, arthritis, neurodegenerative diseases like ALS, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
